Song List

Song List

A comprehensive list of songs (most of which are obscure) I've searched the depths of cyberspace to find (something I've done since 2012). From my own personal experience, most people have very difference musical tastes than I do, but, given that there are 2000+ songs on this list, odds are we'll find at least one song that we can both enjoy. I don't particularly favor one genre over the other. As long as the rhythm is enjoyable, I'll add it to the list. Most of it is electronic, but I do have at least one song from each major genre on that list. There are millions of songs out there, and you never know what you'll find...

Some songs are assigned a rating, some aren't. The rated songs are the ones I listen to the most, and the rating scale is very broad. For the "notes" column:

GBM = Appropriate for video game background music.
SS = Appropriate for sporting events.
MS = Appropriate for movie background music.
AT = Appropriate for an advertisement's background music.
CS = Appropriate for relaxation or anything casual.
CEL = Appropriate for celebrating.
RS = Appropriate for a romantic setting.
PS = Appropriate for party music.
JS = Sounds like jungle music.
WT = Sounds like a war theme.
_E = Eerie (e.g. GBME would be eerie game background music).
_D = Dark
_I = Particularly interesting.
_W = Weird.
_F = Cool or unique sound effects.
_U = Unusually impactful.
_L = Long.
_~ = Different portions of the song seem appropriate for different things.
X or ? = Unsure what this would be appropriate for.

Some of the more notable artists in this list include:

Daft Punk: The TRON:Legacy Soundtrack is one of my favorite movie soundtracks of all time.

Gareth Emery: Many artists will produce songs of similar style, but each song by Gareth Emery feels like its own adventure.

R.O.N.N & Emilio Hernandez: Some of their songs include electrically synthesized animal sounds that are put to a catchy rhythm. My personal favorite is "Lizzard", but the most vibrant example of this concept is their song "Ribbit".

Mellow Sonic: This artist takes video game music and heavily remixes it to make it sound new and unique.

Mindsphere: Another artist that makes "space music", but the song "Circled" is one of the most unique and energetic tunes I've ever heard.

Marso & Gala: This is a Russian duo that has some really unique tunes. The songs don't contain many lyrics, but I'm pretty sure the lyrics are in Russian. My personal favorite is "Solar Sail" as it incorporates a lot of abstract sound effects into a really catchy rhythm.

Some of the more notable songs in this list include:

Close Your Eyes by John Ov3rblast (#0064): A deeply relaxing and surreal tune.

Revelations by Kevlar (#0427): There aren't many lyrics in this song, but the few lyrics that exist are deeply prophetic.

Kaçamazsın Benden by Kader (#0536): A Turkish song, the title of which translates to "you cannot escape from me". This song will sound very dissimilar to traditional Western music.

Lizzard by R.O.N.N & Emilio Hernandez (#0601): Those that know me know how much I enjoy this song. If you've never heard an electronic lizard sing a tune before, you'll probably be in for a treat.

Tempestris by Monocorde (#0870): I have no idea how to interpret this instrumental tune, but I still find it uniquely appealing.

Dreamer by Maya Jane Coles (#1056): Looking for some stress relief and an escape from everyday troubles?

Karoo by Larse (#1058): I'm pretty sure this is a South African tune, but it's a really cool song in any case. There's also a neat music video that shows a lot of video clips of Africa.

The Mutation Generation by Rodney Hadsell (#1101): Be warned that the full version of this song is extremely disturbing. This song was added to the list based on the rhythm I heard in a 90 second preview, which did not include any of the disturbing elements. Only recently did I get a chance to hear the entire song, and I believe this statement of caution is warranted.

Disco Code by Human Blue (#1297): This is the only song I know of that has the word "meteorology" in the lyrics.

Lights & Thunder by Gareth Emery (#1316): Expecting wild weather? Hype yourself up with this song.

Lost Voice by Nkoder (#1612): This song is a characterization of its title. There's a rhythm embedded in the bass line that you can only really hear if you play it on a device that has good bass.

Desolate Railways by LoWGritt (#1793): This song is extremely eerie. It's more a compilation of sound effects than an actual rhythm, but it still evokes some strong emotions. Don't listen before bedtime unless you want nightmares. A similarly creepy song is "Black Dawn" by Psion (#0113).

Melting by Tentura (#1883): A series of mystic sound effects strung together in a very unique rhythm.

Ooh La La by Kotomi (#1916): Even though the lyrics are related to romance, this is my celebration song because of how much positive energy the rhythm emanates.

Double Black by Ost & Meyer & Local Heroes (#1997): A song that tells a non-verbal story that starts off light, darkens, and then ends on a light note. I personally enjoy the first couple minutes due to the unique rhythm.

Flux by Gregor Tresher & Petar Dundov (#2040): Part of the N++ soundtrack and my favorite song from the game.

Solar Sail by Marso & Gala (#2041): I can guarantee you've never heard a song like this before.

Night Force by Power Glove (#2088): A highly unique song that is almost guaranteed to make your hair stand on end and get your adrenaline flowing. It integrates some horrifying sound effects into a catchy rhythm quite beautifully. You could probably just close your eyes and this song will create an adventure in your mind. If asked to describe it, I would say it's sort of like On The Run by Pink Floyd, but considerably more intense. Interestingly enough, this song also makes a bigger impression on you if you listen to it twice in a row.
